Sustainability at Bamsibub®

“There must be a better way to make the things we want, a way that doesn’t spoil the sky, or the rain or the land.” - Paul McCartney

We strive to minimize our environmental impact by offering fabrics with a more favourable ecological footprint. Our selection includes GOTS certified Organic Cotton, Bamboo, Silk, and Merino Wool, all known for their sustainability and benefits, particularly for infants.

To reduce waste, we've made conscious packaging choices. Some products don't feature paper labels, reducing unnecessary waste generation, as customers often throw these away and do not repurpose or reuse these.

Our tissue paper, sourced from Noissue, is FSC-certified, comprising 30% recycled material and 70% new acid-free virgin pulp. After use, it's fully compostable, contributing to eco-friendly practices. The paper is printed with soy-based inks.

You can reuse or repurpose for stuffing gift bags or wrapping soft goods while in seasonal storage. They are printed using soy-based inks.

What makes the bamboo and organic cotton blend so special?

Bamboo and organic cotton mix is softer than normal cotton due to several factors. Firstly, bamboo fibres are naturally smoother and rounder than cotton fibres, which can create a softer texture in the fabric. Additionally, bamboo fibres have natural moisture-wicking properties, which can make the fabric feel cooler and more comfortable against the skin.

Organic cotton, on the other hand, is grown without the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides, which can make the fibres stronger and more durable. This can lead to a longer-lasting and softer fabric. Cotton and bamboo are both hypoallergenic and therefore unlikely to cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.

When combined, bamboo and organic cotton create a unique blend that takes advantage of the best qualities of both materials. The bamboo fibres add softness and breathability, while the organic cotton fibres provide durability and strength.

Moreover, the bamboo and organic cotton mix is often considered more environmentally friendly than traditional cotton because it requires less water and fewer pesticides to grow, which helps to reduce the environmental impact of textile production. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants and is therefore a renewable resource. Bamboo is naturally pest-resistant, so it doesn't require pesticides or fertilizers to grow. It is also biodegradable, which means it can break down naturally without releasing harmful pollutants and Bamboo has antimicrobial properties, which means it doesn't require chemical treatments to prevent bacteria growth.

You can’t go wrong with this beautiful, soft, bamboo and organic cotton mix.

Some more of our products:

Nappy Rubbish Bags:

Our nappy rubbish bags are compostable made with corn starch. Compostable means that a product is capable of breaking down into natural elements in a compost environment. Because it’s broken down into its natural elements it causes no harm to the environment. The breakdown process usually takes about 90 days. The ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) defines compostable as anything that undergoes degradation by biological processes during composting to yield CO2, water, inorganic compounds and biomass at a rate consistent with other compostable materials and leaves no visible, distinguishable or toxic residue.

Wet Bags:

Our Wet bags are a replacement for single use plastic bags, as they are reusable and long lasting, reducing the amount of single use plastic in the environment.

Bamsibub® Eco-friendly Vegan Leather Nappy Bags:

These are made from Vegan leather PU and therefore no animal by products are used in its production. They can also be mechanically recycled.

Animal leather produces more greenhouse gases than other farming practices which produce merino wool and silk for example.

Little Genie Bio Compostable Nursing pads :

After use, put them in your organic waste and they will biodegrade within six months. They will not biodegrade in landfill, and please don’t flush them down the toilet. Independent testing has shown significant signs of degradation after 28 days of exposure in soil.
